Today marks the beginning of another exciting chapter in Cadillac’s storied history. We started our journey in France with a celebration at Cadillac-sur-Garonne, where – some historians believe – Antoine de Lamothe Cadillac drew inspiration for his name. Legend has it that this famous French explorer, who founded the city of Detroit, the home of General Motors, was born Antoine Laumet in Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave, Gascony but adopted the name of Cadillac to become Seigneur de Cadillac. Then, in 1902, Henry M. Leland decided to pay homage to this historical French figure by founding the Cadillac brand. Antoine’s coat of arms even provided inspiration for the Cadillac logo. And because of this connection, we are celebrating the beginning of our French journey and launch the Cadillac LYRIQ in Cadillac-sur-Garonne.

"Cadillac-sur-Garonne is proud to welcome the iconic Cadillac brand from General Motors," commented Jocelyn Doré, Mayor of Cadillac-sur-Garonne.

Our relationship with the town is not new. In 1953, Cadillac was one of the patrons to help with the restoration of the castle. And today, we were also delighted to support Cadillac-sur-Garonne on its own journey to electrification. As a token of appreciation to the region, we are providing three 22 kW double chargers, powered by Geopura Hyrdogen Power Unit. Geopura uses green hydrogen to provide zero-emission electricity, augmenting the grid where the local supply is insufficient and replacing diesel generators delivering reliable, large-scale power, with the only byproduct being water.

We will be supporting the EV charging units for around nine months, with the installation set to run from the 18th of March 2024 until the 31st of December 2024. During this time, the town will use the charging insights to explore opportunities beyond this period.

In addition to providing the chargers, we are also exploring options to contribute to the illumination of the Cadillac Castle. These measures will help the town capture the benefits of the transformation of our industry, and we hope will benefit residents, the community, the tourism industry, and the environment.

On Saturday, March 23, we also begin Le Voyage, a journey across France – from Cadillac-sur-Garonne to Paris – in the all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ. During this cross-country journey, seven content creators will be able to document their experiences with the car.

Yann Larret-Menezo, an electronic music artist and automobile enthusiast who goes by Le Tone will kick off the drive from Cadillac-surGaronne to Nogaro circuit via Bordeaux, Bassin d'Arcachon, Pau and Madiran before arriving at the Nogaro circuit.

The new all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ in France is priced competitively in the premium segment at 81,200 Euros. Starting this week, customers will be able to test drive the Cadillac LYRIQ from Fauchon l’ Hôtel in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. After which, the mobile test drive units will move to different locations across the country before finding a permanent home in the heart of Paris. You can book your test drive here.
