With the Cadillac LYRIQ hitting European roads this summer, we have been looking for ways to showcase the spirit of innovation and performance of the vehicle, as well as our commitment to electrification. After a meeting with the EF Pro Cycling team earlier this year, we were presented with an opportunity to do just that. Naturally, we accepted.

We are proud to announce that the all-new Cadillac LYRIQ will be the first-ever electric vehicle (EV) to serve the EF Pro Cycling teams as in-race support cars during the most demanding, biggest bike races on the planet: the men’s and women’s Tours de France. The cars will trail the peloton on every stage, through the mountains and across northern Italy and France in the men’s race and from Rotterdam to Belgium and into France for the women’s, ushering in a new era of sustainable support for the iconic team.

From Spectator to Participant

For years, we have watched the race from afar, and marveled at the brutal choreography of athleticism and endurance played out against the breathtaking backdrop of the French countryside. And now we have the chance to be a “rookie” on the route and to tackle one of the most challenging tracks that few electric vehicles have done before.

We could not be more thrilled to be partnering with EF Pro Cycling on this journey. We’re especially proud that we get to carry essential equipment for the team, including eight bikes atop a roof rack and other critical gear. This aligns with GM’s broader societal mission to show the world that sustainable driving is suited for all types of journeys, from in- town errands to Europe’s great mountain passes.

"Who could resist the allure of driving a pink Cadillac? We are excited to drive the Cadillac LYRIQ as our in-race support cars at the Tour de France. This marks a significant milestone for us. The range and performance of the LYRIQ, coupled with enhanced charging networks, prove that a three-week stage race, with all its heat, wind, and mountainous terrain, is entirely feasible. We take great pride in tackling the Tour in a Cadillac.” Jonathan Vaughters, founder and CEO, EF Pro Cycling

The LYRIQ: A Command Center on Four Wheels

The LYRIQ will be following the EF Education-EasyPost team through the entire 3,492 kms of racing, every day, from start to finish lines. It will be a command center on four wheels, a quiet retreat for strategy and planning, and a lifeline for the racers on the road.

The LYRIQ's spacious interior will provide crucial support for the team’s directors, who strategize via radios with riders and provide food and water out the windows. The LYRIQ will offer a comfortable and technologically advanced environment to manage the chaos of the Tour. The vehicle’s studio-like atmosphere will provide a quiet space for strategic thinking. The extended range and fast-charging capabilities will ensure the LYRIQ can keep pace with the demands of the team. The LYRIQ’s next act comes as the in-race support car at the women’s race, helping the dynamic women of EF-Oatly-Cannondale to success.

But the impact goes beyond functionality. The LYRIQ's sleek design, with its signature lighting and luxurious materials, will be a head-turner on the route. Like the bright pink jerseys of the team, it's a statement piece, a symbol of Cadillac's commitment to a world of zero emissions.

“We only have one planet to take care of so electric vehicles are part of the answer. There has to be a change and EVs make a lot of sense. I think it’s great that our team will use the LYRIQ for the Tour de France. I can only see positives for us to use EVs, whether it’s at the Tour or in day-to-day life of running errands and commuting.” Andreas Klier, sport director at the Tour de France and the team’s technical operations manager
