EV and Retail Leader Pere Brugal Joins General Motors Europe

ZURICH, Switzerland – General Motors Europe today announced Pere Brugal will join the company as Chief Commercial Officer, effective August 21, 2023.

GM Europe President and Managing Director, Jaclyn McQuaid, said Brugal brings to the role more than 25 years’ experience in retail strategy, commercial operations and, more recently, electric vehicle start-ups.

“General Motors sees significant opportunities in Europe, as we launch the industry’s best and most comprehensive EV portfolio,” said McQuaid.

“Europe is the second largest and fastest growing EV market in the world, and we are excited to be bringing customers in Europe incredible vehicles and a market-leading customer experience.

“We will be launching our EV start-up business in the near future, and Pere will play an important role in ensuring we exceed the expectations of our customers in Europe.”

In his prior positions as BYD’s Commercial Director for Europe Passenger Cars and General Manager for Southern Europe at Tesla, Brugal has worked at the leading edge of the European expansion of electric vehicle start-ups since 2017, developing strategic network partnerships, business models, portfolios and customer experiences.

He worked as well in retail brands such as Desigual, Pronovias, Nike and Levi Strauss and Co in Europe, the United States, Canada and Central and South America.

Brugal said he was excited to join General Motors Europe at the inception of the EV start-up.
